Degree Audit and Transfer Credit
Your Degree Audit shows how the courses you’ve completed—as well as those you plan to take—fulfill your major requirements.
Undergraduate Degree Audit
A degree is a collection of courses and experiences that together represent a student’s accumulation of knowledge, skills, and experiences. Degree requirements are developed by faculty and include general education and major requirements. Registration and Records creates and maintains the coding of degree requirements in MyPack so students, advisors, and others can easily and accurately plan and track a student’s progress towards graduation. The undergraduate degree audit is a visual representation of a student’s progress towards degree completion. The audit shows completed, planned and unfulfilled degree requirements for a student’s major or minor.
- Perform a degree audit in MyPack Portal.
- Plan future coursework using the Pack Planner.

Transfer Credits
NC State is committed to the success of our transfer students. Coursework from other institutions is reviewed to determine if the courses are appropriate for transfer credit. Registration and Records coordinates the evaluation of transfer credits and works closely with faculty across the University to review courses for incoming students. Registration and Records also develops and maintains the transfer coursework database to ensure that students receive credit quickly and efficiently.
Transfer Credit Policy
Academic coursework from an appropriately accredited institution may transfer if completed with a grade of C- or better and documented on an official transcript from the institution of instruction. Application of credit towards degree is at the discretion of the student’s department or College.
Individual transfer courses are not documented on the NC State transcript and are excluded from all NC State student GPA calculations.
Transfer Course Equivalencies
Prospective and current students may view previously reviewed coursework from domestic and international institutions to determine NC State course equivalency. View the transfer credit database to see transfer course equivalencies.
Transfer Articulation Agreements and Partnerships
Articulation agreements and partnerships create opportunities for transfer students and ensure efficient transfer of coursework to NC State degree plans. NC State participates in the the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) with the NC community colleges, as well as other articulation agreements, bilateral agreements and partnerships.
For more information, please visit Transfer Articulation Agreements and Partnerships.
Transfer Credit Inquiries
Please complete our online form if you have questions about transfer credit policy, transfer articulation agreements, or course equivalencies.
North Carolina Community College students who feel the terms of the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) have not been honored may submit an appeal to the UNC System Transfer Advisory Committee.
If you have questions about transcript submission or the transfer application process, please contact Undergraduate Admissions.
Reverse Transfer Program
The Reverse Transfer Program is a collaborative effort between North Carolina Community Colleges and the UNC System that allows students to complete their associate degree requirements while earning a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year UNC institution.
Twice a year, NC State will route the baccalaureate records for each Reverse Transfer Program participant to the appropriate NC community college, which will evaluate the credit and award an associate degree once all requirements are met. The community college will notify the student when associate degree requirements are met, at which point the student may apply to the community college for graduation and request an official transcript.
There is no fee for the Reverse Transfer Program. Qualified students who complete their Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree through the Reverse Transfer Program are eligible for GEP fulfillment under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA).
Who is eligible?
Students who have completed 25% of their associate degree at one NC Community College System institution are eligible to participate in the Reverse Transfer Program. All associate degree courses must be college-level and eligible for transfer as designated on the CAA Transfer Course List.
How can I opt into or out of the Reverse Transfer Program?
If you are eligible to opt into the Reverse Transfer Program, you will receive a notification when you first log into MyPack Portal. The notification will provide information on the program and an option to opt in. If you have questions about opting in, want to check your eligibility for the program, or opt out at any time please contact transfercredit@ncsu.edu.
What happens after I opt in?
- Once you have earned 60 total hours of credit from your associate and baccalaureate degree combined, NC State routes your academic records to the UNC System Office. The UNC System Office then provides this information to the appropriate community college.
- Your community college evaluates all baccalaureate degree coursework and notifies you through your NC State email address once you complete all associate degree requirements.
- If you wish to have your records evaluated for CAA eligibility, please send an official community college transcript with degree posted to NC State Undergraduate Admissions.
Which NC State courses will fulfill my AA or AS degree requirements?
Your community college is responsible for determining how your baccalaureate coursework may fulfill your associate degree requirements. We recommend working with your community college to determine your most efficient academic plan as soon as you opt into the Reverse Transfer Program.
