Degree Audit and Transfer Credit

Undergraduate Degree Audit

A degree is a collection of courses and experiences that together represent a student’s accumulation of knowledge, skills, and experiences. Degree requirements are developed by faculty and include general education and major requirements. Registration and Records creates and maintains the coding of degree requirements in MyPack so students, advisors, and others can easily and accurately plan and track a student’s progress towards graduation. The undergraduate degree audit is a visual representation of a student’s progress towards degree completion. The audit shows completed, planned and unfulfilled degree requirements for a student’s major or minor.

  • Perform a degree audit in MyPack Portal.
  • Plan future coursework using the Pack Planner.
  • Explore new majors and minors with the What If? feature of your degree audit.

Transfer Credit

NC State is committed to the success of our transfer students. Coursework from other institutions is reviewed to determine if the courses are appropriate for transfer credit. Registration and Records coordinates the evaluation of transfer credits and works closely with faculty across the University to review courses for incoming students. Registration and Records also develops and maintains the transfer coursework database to ensure that students receive credit quickly and efficiently.

Transfer Credit Policy

Academic coursework from an appropriately accredited institution may transfer if completed with a grade of C- or better and documented on an official transcript from the institution of instruction. Application of credit towards degree is at the discretion of the student’s department or College.

Individual transfer courses are not documented on the NC State transcript and are excluded from all NC State student GPA calculations.

Transfer Course Equivalencies

Prospective and current students may view previously reviewed coursework from domestic and international institutions to determine NC State course equivalency. View the transfer credit database to see transfer course equivalencies.

Transfer Articulation Agreements and Partnerships

Articulation agreements and partnerships create opportunities for transfer students and ensure efficient transfer of coursework to NC State degree plans. NC State participates in the the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) with the NC community colleges, as well as other articulation agreements, bilateral agreements and partnerships.

For more information, please visit Transfer Articulation Agreements and Partnerships.
